Style & Genre

Although strictly speaking a drama, Nadya, will adopt many of the stylistic devices of a noir, espionage thriller. Perhaps the most illustrious exemplar of this style is Carol Reed’s 1949 masterpiece, The Third Man, which is an object lesson in aligning style with content.

The contemporary version of this approach can be seen in the neo-noir streaming drama's such as Das Boot, Babylon Berlin, Chernobyl and the feature film The Lives of Others, that use desaturated colours and an unglamorous sense of everyday realism that emphasises the humanity of the characters involved in the extreme events of the story.

Rather than exotic foreigners or romantic heroes, the characters in these shows could be us and we could be them.

A Mood Board and details of the world of the story can be found from here.
